As noted by Robotics & Automation News in their article “The Real Workhorses of Industrial Automation,” while AI and advanced robotics may steal the spotlight, the true foundation of productivity in today’s manufacturing and industrial sectors lies in tried-and-tested technologies. These include welding systems, high-speed assembly lines, and precision cutters that perform quietly and efficiently across countless facilities.

Despite the hype around next-gen robotics, global trends show that traditional automation tools remain indispensable. The International Federation of Robotics reported a record 590,000 new industrial robot installations in 2024. What’s notable is that a significant number of these machines are still tasked with essential, legacy functions—welding, cutting, painting, and material handling—yet they’re doing so with unprecedented levels of speed, precision, and resilience.
